Top 3 Creative Activities for Children
Columbia Beach Resort has long been a staunch supporter of ensuring its younger travellers are given a safe and stimulating space in which to play, develop confidence, build friendships, and – more than anything – have fun!
When a child is permitted the opportunity to play creatively and given access to creative activities, his or her intellectual, emotional, physical, and social make-up is challenged, cultured, and cultivated.
Coinciding with our landmark relaunch in September 2017, Columbia Beach Resort welcomed world-revered group, Worldwide Kids Ltd. into its sphere, partnering our experience, passion, and inspiration in the creation of our distinguished The Den Kids Club for children aged 4 to 12.
In honour of Kid Inventors’ Day on January 17, which celebrates the ingenuity and imagination of children, we are counting down our top 3 creative activities, and giving you a little insight into just how valuable they can be…
1) Arts & Crafts
This is perhaps the most famous of the creative pursuits encouraged amongst young children. All that paint, glitter, and glue introduces children to a world of colours, and expressive possibilities. Indeed, arts and crafts are credited as being integral to enriching a child’s ability to communicate, as well as reinforcing self-esteem, and even enhancing decision-making skills, as they learn that they are the architect of their work’s design.
2) Treasure Hunts
Treasure hunts are a beloved component of The Den Kids Club’s weekly programme, and not without merit! Besides being fun and engaging, treasure hunts allow hands-on learning that fine-tunes focus, problem-solving skills and, crucially, teamwork.
3) Making Pizza
Who doesn’t love pizza? This Italian staple has captured the hearts and stomachs of adults and children alike the world over, and making pizza has proven to be a fun and creative activity for all the family. Why has making pizza made the list, you might wonder? Every week, Columbia Beach Resort’s younger travellers are invited to try their hand at pizza making at The Den Kids Club, developing essential skills in the process, such as being able to follow instructions, fine motor dexterity, and even preliminary concepts integral to maths and science.
