Gingerbread Recipe: Baking Fun for All the Family
With gingerbread having become so closely associated with Christmas, it is no surprise that December is now littered with official days honouring this beloved baked good.
From Gingerbread Decorating Day on December 9 to Gingerbread House Day on December 13, opportunities to engage in a little creative cooking are plentiful.
Getting the family together for an afternoon of baking is a simple (albeit messy…) way of giving rise to magical memories. Where you see clouds of flour sprinkled upon the floor, children delight in imagining it as snow; where you agonise over carefully cutting the gingerbread person shapes out of the sticky dough, children wonder at their storybook characters coming to life before their eyes.
So turn up the volume on the Christmas music, study our Pastry Chef’s special gingerbread recipe below, and get baking! The fruits of the labour –in every sense –will be well worth it.
