Butterfly Migration: A Secret Spring Treasure in Cyprus!
Spring in Cyprus is in full swing.
And for those visiting the island at present, that means sun-kissed days, piercing blue skies, and blossoming flora aplenty: a veritable Mediterranean paradise.
Adding to this is a lesser known spring treasure to look out for: the influx of migrating painted lady butterflies.
As their name suggests, painted lady butterflies are colourful and bold, with large wing spans of five to nine centimetres, and bright orange wings dotted with black and white spots: beauties to behold.
Currently migrating en masse from northern Africa and Israel to Cyprus, local news outlets suggest that they are moving at a rate of 25,000 per hour.
So, whilst enjoying an early morning walk along Pissouri Bay, lounging by the pool at lunchtime, or sipping a cocktail at sunset, look out for these charming painted lady butterflies in discovering Cyprus’ secret spring treasure.
