Spreading a little sunshine: our new membership with Hidden Disabilities Sunflower
Everything we do here at Columbia Beach Resort is underpinned by a desire to deliver hospitality with heart. Our guests’ experiences are always at the forefront of our vision and mission, and our resort is renowned for its ongoing commitment to accessibility.
Not only does our resort have specially designed suites with everything from wider doorways and moveable furniture, but all our staff members have been trained to offer assistance to those with mobility issues in an emergency. Back in June, we were delighted to receive the following feedback from one of our guests, Lucy Beaty:
“I would like to compliment your staff following a recent stay. I have accessibility requirements, your staff were helpful without being overly intrusive. So often people get that balance wrong. Special compliments to Loizos {PORTER} Theo {pool bar} + Agnes {SPA}”
Following the recent pandemic, and the need to wear face coverings in public spaces, we wanted to go one step further and do everything in our power to improve everyday experiences and interactions for people with invisible disabilities. That’s why we’ve recently become the first resort in the world to join the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower Network – an amazing initiative which helps support those that face day-to-day challenges by encouraging us all to offer assistance, be kind and patient, and refrain from judgement.
As well as training our staff members accordingly and providing complimentary Sunflower products, we’ll be actively raising awareness of the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower Network throughout our resort and beyond.
