Columbia Beach Resort Sponsors Cyprus Film Days
Spearhead by the heartfelt hospitality defining of Columbia Beach Resort, we are delighted to share details of our sponsorship of the Cyprus Film Days – International Festival (CFD IFF) 2025.
CFD IFF is the official competition festival of Cyprus dedicated to the art of the full-length fiction film, organised by the Department of Contemporary Culture of the Deputy Ministry of Culture and the Rialto Theatre.
This year, Columbia Beach Resort directly supported two major events within the CFD IFF: the hosting of two-day filmmaking workshop entitled ‘Invisible Myths’, and the launch of the inaugural Columbia Kids Awards for the CFD’s 2nd National Short Film Competition for Children and Youth.
Led by Oliwia Tado and Mariangela Ciccarello, the two-day filmmaking workshop took place on April 5 and 6, and welcomed select budding filmmakers (aged 18-26) to create two short films inspired by Cyprus’ hidden myths, with the films screened publicly on April 7 at the Rialto Theatre, Limassol, and April 8 at Zena Palace, Nicosia.
Meanwhile, the Columbia Kids Awards, presented on April 6, acknowledged the out-standing achievements of primary school children, aged 10-12, in directing and screen-play writing.
Three awards were bestowed: the winner received a state-of-the-art camera; the first runner-up, €500, and the second runner-up, an overnight stay for a four-member family.
“Just as our resort is harmoniously contoured into the embrace of the stunning hills of Pissouri and its landmark chalk-hued cape, the essence of our hospitality is balanced upon this very same integration with local community and culture: of preserving, promoting and pioneering,” explains Anthea Vikis, Marketing Manager of Columbia Beach Resort.
Ms. Vikis continues: “In supporting the creativity embodied by the CFD IFF, Columbia Beach Resort believes, also, in the concurrent opportunities for communication and, thus, cooperation, which go hand in hand with the flourishing and furtherance of our society.”
