Columbia Celebrates Partnership with Cyprus Anti-Cancer Society
Since the start of Columbia’s affiliation with The Cyprus Anti-Cancer Society in December 2018, we have donated a total of €63,321, thanks to our guests’ generosity.
Nestled into the embrace of the encompassing cove of Pissouri, poised with pride above the lapping shores of its bay, the charm of Columbia Beach Resort is inextricable from its surrounding community.
Our serene setting – its nature, history, and culture – plays a starring role in the creation of the Columbia experience.
Yes, community is at the heart of Columbia’s hospitality, no more so that in our commitment to charitable endeavours that prioritise educating and empowering.
Further to our long-established Columbia Cat Care Project, water recycling programme and energy saving practices, and affiliations with the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower network and Minoa (which provides ecological solutions for plastic bottling), Columbia is celebrating five years of partnership with The Cyprus Anti-Cancer Society.
The Cyprus Anti-Cancer Society (established in 1971) is a registered charity organisation that cares for people with cancer, providing them with complete palliative care services in line with international standards. Further to supporting the patients’ families and caregivers, it also aims to inform the wider public about cancer prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and relief.
Since December 2018, Columbia has been giving our guests the opportunity to contribute to this quest by adding a donation of just €5.00 to their suite’s bill. Those not wishing to donate or, indeed, desiring to make a larger donation can simply communicate their wishes with our Front Desk team.
In a show of immense camaraderie, together we have succeeded in collectively raising and donating a total of €63,321 to The Cyprus Anti-Cancer Society to date.
“Cancer affects everyone,” Marketing Manager and Charity Liaison, Anthea Vikis, notes with profundity.
Elaborating, Ms. Vikis explains: “Statistically, every 1 in 2 people with develop cancer in their lifetime. This sobering reality means that if it doesn’t affect you directly, it will affect someone you love.
“We really are united as a community here at Columbia, with many of our extended ‘family’ affected in one way or another by cancer. Our impulse and inspiration to help cannot be quelled. And we look forward to the years ahead of supporting The Cyprus Anti-Cancer Society.”
