Columbia, for Yiannos Ioannou. Annual Charity Pissouri Swim Race
On Saturday, 9th November 2024, Pissouri Bay set the stage for an inspiring event that highlighted both athleticism and heartfelt community spirit! The first annual charity swim race, organised in partnership with Swim Series and Cyprus Athletic Tourism, took place in memory of a cherished member of the Columbia family, Yiannos Ioannou. Swimmers gathered at the starting point on Prolimnos Beach, ready to face the challenge of an 8.5km race.
Following a scenic route alongside the stunning white cliffs of Cape Aspro, the race concluded at Columbia Water Sports, on Pissouri Bay.The atmosphere was filled with anticipation and reverence, as participants – including members of the Columbia team – prepared not just for a competition, but for a meaningful tribute.
The event attracted swimmers of various abilities, all united in honouring Yiannos Ioannou and supporting a worthy charitable cause “The Association of Parents and Friends of Children with Heart Disease” which provides support, assistance and educational services to those suffering with heart disease and their families.
Spectators lined the shore to cheer on the participants, creating an electric and supportive
atmosphere. The success of this inaugural race laid the foundation for what promises to become a lasting
annual tradition, celebrating both athletic achievement and the power of community.
Columbia Beach Resort extends its heartfelt thanks to all participants, supporters, and partners
who contributed to making the day unforgettable, and one that we hope our dear Yiannos would
be proud of.
