Cycling in Cyprus: Try Something New On Holiday!
With its rugged terrain and agreeable winter climate, Cyprus has won the heart of many a cyclist in search of fresh horizons to explore.
Further to the famed Troodos Mountain range –dense with off-the-beaten-track pathways, richly embellished by imposing trees –certain coastal areas, such as Pissouri, are blessed with a varied landscape that permits holiday-goers to sample the charms of cycling in Cyprus, without having to stray too far from the much-beloved and coveted seaside.
Unlike exploration of the area by car, cycling allows travellers to become intimately acquainted with an area in the most serendipitous of ways that can’t help but conjure remnants of the old adage: life is a journey, not a destination.
With is a slower-pace and dedicated focus on the journey, cycling permits a sensory revolution, from catching the scent of the wild growing jasmine and beholding the tenacious sunset as it sinks into the sea, to hearing the call of a swallow signalling the advent of spring.
And, indeed, with our own in-house cycling centre, BikeCyprus –run by two-time former Swiss cycling champion, Thomas Wegmuller –our guests have the good fortune of being guided by the expertise and passion of a long-seasoned professional.
Tours are plentiful and diverse, with a range of programmes on offer to appeal to both novices and experienced cyclers, as well as families looking for a fun and fulfilling day out.
