Getting to Know You: Meet our Resort’s Executive Secretary, Yohanna D’Elia

How long have you been in your current role?
I have been in this position exactly 13 months to the day! I started as the Columbia Beach Resort’s Executive Secretary on March 23rd 2018.

What is your favourite part of being Executive Secretary?
There are so many parts of my job that I love! It’s hard to pick one thing, but something I really love is being able to assist, our Director, to prioritize the different tasks of the day; as you can imagine, he has a multitude of tasks and situations that need to be handled, and part of my job is to be able to correctly prioritize the urgent matters within the Resort’s various departments and guest’s requests, whilst keeping our Resort’s vision in mind and always having the company’s best interests at heart.
Despite my role being high-pressure, it is also very rewarding because it has allowed me to gain so much understanding about how the various aspects of the Resort work, and how the team’s efforts have a direct impact on our guests’ satisfaction. This is another aspect that I love about my job, being able to meet with guests when necessary. I pride myself on representing our Resort, in the best possible light (by being polite, professional, well-spoken, knowledgeable, etc) and in turn, being able to hear direct feedback from our guests!

What are your hobbies?
I originally started out in the hotel industry as a Pastry cook – so baking and making pastries is definitely one of my passions and something I try to do whenever the opportunity arises. I am also Latin/Venezuelan so I believe I have dance in my blood! Zumba is something I ensure to do, at least 4 times per week!!”
