Take Action: 3 Steps to Feeling Good
February 4th marks the annual World Cancer Day, a global initiative that aims to take action against the disease, underscored by the tenets of prevention, support, awareness and solidarity.
An ongoing theme, this year will once again celebrate the powerful anthem of ‘I Am and I Will’, devised to encapsulate just how effective individual action taken today can be in positively impacting the outlook of tomorrow.
Appreciating how this can be embedded within the wider framework of health – both physical and psychological – and how a holiday is often undertaken in one’s quest for revitalisation and renewal, we have put together a few ideas of how to take action whilst staying with us on your journey of feeling good.
- I am and I will… Treat myself in good measure
Of course, we understand that going on holiday is tantamount to giving into temptation. You are free from the routine of your daily life, and you want to indulge. Just remember the old maxim: everything in good measure. For example, enjoy one glass of bubbly at our lavish breakfast buffet instead of two!
- I am and I will… Stay active
Lounging poolside or seaside may be your idea of heaven (and rightly so!). But keeping active even whilst on holiday will not only keep your body healthy but will also serve to invigorate your mind. Try your hand at tennis or cycling for some high impact exercise. Alternatively, yoga and golf are both sound options for those in search of gentle activity.
- I am and I will… Make time for self-care
A holiday is the perfect opportunity to practise self-care, and something we often neglect giving ourselves in our daily lives is the gift of time and space: to think, to feel, to be present and appreciative of our here and now. Whether it is treating yourself to a spa treatment, beholding the kaleidoscopic beauty of the sunrise, letting the salty sea breeze wash over you, or meditating on the wonder of the full moon over the Bay, inspiration will no doubt be plentiful!
