Women in Business: What Inspires You?

Columbia Beach Resort prides itself on delivering an inimitable holiday experience. A great deal of hard work goes into the creation of this experience, with the Resort’s managers committing themselves wholeheartedly to the task, guiding and coordinating the Columbia family to its most fruitful ends.

And whilst Cyprus has some way to go yet with regards to equality in the workplace (as evidenced by the recent Eurostat statistic that revealed only 22% of Cyprus’ managers to be female), Columbia Beach Resort is ahead of the game, boasting a formidable cohort of female managers, making up 60% of the management team and fulfilling a variety of roles integral to the smooth running of the resort.

In honour business Women’s Day on September 22, we asked five of Columbia’s female managers to reveal just what inspires them every morning when getting up for work, and here’s what they had to say…

Aphrodite Papamichael, Reservations and Revenue Manager: “It always makes me feel good knowing that I’ve helped guests take the first step towards enjoying the holiday they’ve long desired.”

Anthea Vikis, Marketing Manager: “I take great pride in developing our Resort’s brand identity, and in determining the most prestigious means to promote our beautiful, unique product. I also love connecting with our guests online, nothing makes me happier than when someone shares photos of their holiday with us!”

Elpida Spyrou, Chief Accountant: “My role within the Resort’s team requires organisation and meticulousness and I’m grateful to have a great team of like-minded, strong and understanding people; all sharing the same vision for our Resort and it’s financial future”

Maria Theophanous, Guest Services Manager: “Without a doubt, it’s the opportunity to connect with guests on a more meaningful level, and build a relationship with them.”
